DIGITAL - HI TECH (DHT) promotes the use of Smart Pipelines to improve bulk data processing as well as facilitate data transfer between blockchain virtual machines and external applications. Compared to Smart Contracts that are widely used on platforms like Ethereum, Smart Pipelines offer the benefits of higher efficiency, stronger scalability, and zero gas consumption.
Disadvantages of Smart Contracts:
• The maximum data capacity of each block is very limited. For example, regarding the architecture of Ethereum, the maximum usable gas in a single block is 10 million - 9 this means that the DApp cannot process large amounts of data or will lead to network congestion of blockchain.
• High gas consumption prevents developers from using mainstream algorithms commonly found on traditional platforms, thus limiting the design of DApps.
• Lack of activity call functionality, which means Smart Contracts cannot automatically perform complex tasks that would require external scripting support.
Illustration of the DHT Smart Pipeline:
When a blockchain creates a node, the transactions in the node are stored into the virtual machine for execution. Smart pipelines can be inserted before or after each execution. They act as a program breakpoint and customers can enable them according to their needs. When a breakpoint is triggered, a world stop process is automatically executed. The real-time data will then be transmitted and processed by the external application through the Smart Pipeline. After processing the data, the results will be disseminated back to the client on the blockchain via the Smart Pipeline. The client will then store the specific data set into the database, thus completing the data association with the blockchain. Such a process eliminates the limitations of handling large amounts of data in virtual machines. With the Smart Pipeline heavily optimized by the DIGITAL - HI TECH (DHT) team, the transmission not only improves operational efficiency, but also improves data processing efficiency.
The DHT Smart Pipeline application includes a WASM script, distributed over the blockchain. Applications can also be executed on different subchains, and this also applies to self-developed verified apps.
